HEY THERE, IT IS A PLEASURE MEETING YOU HERE!

Let me introduce myself. My name is Amarie (Ai-Mah-Ree) and I am a freelance flutist and teacher. After receiving my Master of music degree in flute performance from Boston Conservatory at Berklee, I settled in Albany where I completed my Bachelor of Arts in music at the College of Saint Rose. The warmth and endless talent I encountered there were my inspiration. My colleagues and mentors helped me realize that I wanted to pursue my career with the same kind of knowledge, dedication, purpose, compassion, and spirit that I encountered at Saint Rose. These words are the catalysts for what have helped me form my teaching philosophy.

Bio: About

While studying intensely at the Conservatory I had the chance to work with many celebrated musicians and teachers. A full list can be viewed in my CV at the bottom of this page and includes such teaching artists as Ann BoBo, Fernando Brandais, and Bruce Hangen, as well as renowned flutists Lorna McGhee, Linda Toote, Carol Wincenc, and Barbara Siesel. In 2016 I had the privilege of traveling to the beautiful oasis of Domaine Forget, a nature-centered flute festival that takes place tucked away in the quiet mountains of Quebec, CA. While there I had the opportunity to work with world-famous flutists Emmanuel Pahud and Denis Bouriakov, as well as Canadian flutists Susan Hoeppner and Camille Churchfield.

In my time growing as a musician I have learned a lot about life in the classical music world, excerpts and all. However I also began a deep dive into spiritual and physical health practices. This included disciplines of yoga, breathing techniques, and stretching. Making time for my physical and mental health became a necessary tool for me while coping with my crazy life as a Masters student in the city, where I became very familiar with my increasing anxiety. Yoga has helped me develop qualities like patience, mental resilience and self love like nothing I have experienced before. On my continuous journey into the holistic and healing powers of yoga and all movements, I hope to encourage this exploration in my students as well.

Being a musician I have many performance dreams for myself. I have a strong interest in film music and studio recording. I have recorded as a session musician for the film scoring department at Berklee College of Music at their Shames Recording Stage. In undergrad I got my minor in music business which equipped me with the knowledge of music licensing, publishing, marketing, studio production, engineering and ProTools. I also participated as an executive member of the Rose Record Label where I worked as an A&R representative with our artists.

Most recently I have been a teaching artist with Empire State Youth orchestra. After having that experience I have gone on in pursuit of a teaching certification in classroom music K-12 through University of Massachusetts Amherst. Through this next phase of life I plan to take the skills that I have developed as a musician into my future as an educator.
